That’s because Mound is the birthplace of both one of America’s favorite toys as well as the former star of Hercules: the Legendary Journeys. Nevertheless, Mound, named for the prehistoric mounds that dot the local landscape, is probably best known for its proximity to Lake Minnetonka, a 14,528-acre natural lake that has been a popular resort destination for more than a century.
