Here are some biographies and memoirs that have crossed our desks recently.

"FIVE CHIEFS: A Supreme Court Memoir," by John Paul Stevens, Little, Brown and Company, $24.99, 292 pages (nf)
John Paul Stevens served 35 years as a Supreme Court justice and served with five different chief justices: Fred Vinson, Earl Warren, Warren Burger, William Rehnquist and John Roberts. To answer the questions he was repeatedly asked about his time on the court, he penned this memoir about several of the significant cases, the chief justices he worked under and some of their work.
