Planet Green Recycle (http://www.planetgreenrecycle.com)
is urging everyone to join them on December 10th at the Sportsmen’s
Lodge Hotel in Studio City, CA from Noon to 4 PM for their first-ever
Recycle. Reuse. Rejoice event benefiting multiple worthy causes. This
special Holiday Party will feature stars of film and television all
raising money for select, non-profit groups while addressing the growing
E-Waste disposal problem that is threatening the world environment!
(PRWEB) November 21, 2011
Yearly changes in technology, media, and software have all resulted in a staggering rise in electronic waste. Whether it’s a new lap-top, notebook or tablet; an upgraded Blackberry™, iPhone™, or Android™; or a next generation Wii™, X-Box™ or Playstation™ …many of today’s breakthrough electronic gadgets are outdated the very next year. In a game of planned obsolescence the Consumer Electronics industry often not only “games” the new gadget system but fleeces the planet in the process.
Where does all of our E-Trash go?
Only about 15% is ever recycled, and over 40 Million tons goes to
landfills. And our electronic trash pile is growing! Experts predict
that our E-Heap will rise more than 500% in the next decade. Why should
we care? Because electronic components contain contaminants and
carcinogens such as lead, cadmium, and mercury as well as substances
like epoxy resins, fiberglass, PVC and plastics that are
non-biodegradable and can stay in the environment for several hundreds
to thousands of years.
Planet Green Recycle has come up
with an “Eco” fundraising event for the holidays that not only raises
environmental consciousness, but also helps raise critical dollars for
cash-strapped charities during these tough economic times. Recycle.
Reuse. Rejoice is shaping up to be a Tinseltown Charity Extravaganza
benefiting multiple worthy causes while educating everyone about the
importance of recycling electronic waste.
With help from generous celebrities like:-
Kevin Sorbo from Hercules, The Legendary Journeys
- Anson Williams from Happy Days
- Kate Linder from The Young and the Restless
- Taylor Gray from Nickelodeon’s Bucket and Skinner’s Epic Adventures
- Tony Denison from The Closer
- Carlos Knight from Supah Ninjas
Planet Green
will bring attention to each of their their special and important
causes in the spirit of green living and the spirit of seasonal giving.
Each of these charities are doing important work for the less
privileged, for the sick, and for children around the world including: A
World Fit for Kids, a leading provider of healthy behaviors and
empowerment for young people, The Sunshine Kids dedicated to children
with cancer, The ALS Association, dedicated to fighting Lou Gehrig’s
Disease, and Nothing But Nets committed to raising funds and awareness
to fight malaria which afflicts thousands of children in Africa.
These are not easy times and
charitable giving has fallen to its lowest level in decades. As
Americans tighten their budgets, private donations to all causes,
organizations and charitable trusts are plummeting and most national
philanthropic endeavors are cash-strapped. “It has been a tough year for
non-profits, and we are extremely grateful to the Borgnine Group and
all the celebrities that have stepped forward to make a difference for
so many people in need this season,” says Trish Mahon of Planet Green.
The Recycle. Reuse. Rejoice. event will be four hours of fun and good cheer and organizers suggest that folks come early to enjoy holiday music, a tree garden, food and drink treats, special prizes, celebrity photos, hot cocoa, raffle gifts, and of course Santa Claus!
The event starts promptly at Noon on December 10th and Admission is FREE with the donation of an old, used or discarded E-waste item for recycling (i.e. inkjets, toner, cell phones, cameras, MP3’s, laptops, monitors, PDA’s, iPods, keyboards, CPU’s, PDA’s, copiers, Palm Pilots, external drives, GPS Systems, etc)
Early Registration is also encouraged via their website at http://www.recyclereuserejoice.com. For more information call Planet Green Recycle at: 1-800-377-1093.
