My
hometown, Pahrump, NV, does not have a movie theater so it wasn't until
I got to L.A. in preparation for next Wednesday's Alongside Night
showing in Santa Monica that I found myself Friday with an open evening
to see Kevin Sorbo's movie, God's Not Dead. I saw it at the Howard
Hughes Center off of Sepulveda. For a movie going into its fourth week
of release it was a good crowd -- about thirty or more people for the
7:35 Friday show.
Kevin Sorbo was wonderful. An outstanding performance.

The plotting made me wish for more of a C.S. Lewis touch and less "rah
rah rah for our side and your side sucks" stacking the deck, but overall
the production values were excellent, the acting was excellent, there
was a lot of genuine, well played humor. The "Christian vs. Atheist"
classroom debate between Kevin Sorbo's Professor Radisson and Shane
Harper's Josh Wheaton -- the centerpiece of the movie -- was
intellectually cogent.
Congratulations to Kevin Sorbo in spearheading one of those "never happens" indie film success stories -- and, Kevin, let's make it two in a row.
