This
is a clip from the new futuristic political thriller, Alongside Night,
based on the J. Neil Schulman novel praised by Milton Friedman, Anthony
Burgess, Glenn Beck, and Ron Paul, written, produced, and directed by
the original novel's author.
Elliot Vreeland (Christian Kramme) refuses a "one-minute topic" homework assignment from his teacher at Ansonia Prep School, instead creating his own video presentation, based on the book "Not Worth A Continental" by his father, Nobel-prizewinner-in-economics, Dr. Martin Vreeland (Kevin Sorbo). Elliot's classroom video presentation "Economics in One Minute" (the title adapted from Henry Hazlitt's famous book, Economics in One Lesson), uses what his school's headmaster calls "a lucid series of pop culture references" to boil down his father's complex theories.
Shortly after giving this presentation Elliot is called out of class and what happens next shows that in the real-world economic ideas are behind political intrigue that has put his entire family in immediate danger of arrest and imprisonment ... and has him on the run from a government spinning wildly out of control while he seeks help to find and rescue his family.
"A great movie, sure to be recognized as a milestone in libertarian entertainment." -- Scott Bieser, artist, Big Head Press
"The story is, by turns, touching, suspense-filled, violent when violence was called for, highly polemic, and altogether satisfying."
L. Neil Smith, The Libertarian Enterprise
"A movie dedicated to promoting liberty and warning about a too powerful government." -- Coos County Democrat
"Abundant professional talent ...supported the making of this fine movie. The result is visually bright and stunning, laced and layered with great music and pregnant with the theme of the unquenchable human spirit seeking liberty."
--Jerry Jewett, Mondo Cult
Rated PG-13
